It runs in the family

Some of my friends who are running Chicago right now will also be running the New York City Marathon in 2 weeks. While looking at the race website trying to find out if I can get real time updates, I noticed a link that said "Results Archive 1970-2004" so I decided to see if I could find my brother, Brian's times. I knew he'd been a decent runner but until just now, I had no idea how good he really was:

Year First Name Sex/
Age
Official
Time
Pace/
Mile
1986 BRIAN M25 3:06:22 7:06
1987 BRIAN M26 3:04:59 7:03

I will only see times like that in my dreams.

Chicago!

It's a tad bit nippy in Chicago today & several of my friends are out there right now running the Chicago Marathon. I'm getting updates on several of them on my computer & it appears that 2 of my coaches are kicking ass so far:

Anne B. 01:29:50 (net) @ 15K. Pace 9:38. Predicted 04:12:34. By The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon

Ginny H. 01:31:53 (net) @ 15K. Pace 9:51. Predicted 04:18:14. By The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon

Run girls! RUN!!

*UPDATE*

My former mentee from the Houston Marathon, Julie, just made it to the 1/2 way point in Chicago. She has maintained the exact same speed the entire race. She finished Houston in 5:35:01. Today she is on pace to finish Chicago in 4:26:59. I am in awe! GO JULIE!!!

*UPDATE #2*

Julie finished in 4:50:05. I'm not sure if that's her gun time or chip time, but still, how awesome is that?

Ginny finished in 4:55:28. I have a feeling she went back to help out the other TNT runners.
Not bad for a "practice run" for NY in 2 weeks, eh?

I haven't received word yet on Anne. Again, I'm sure she's out there helping the other TNT runners.

*UPDATE #3*

Not sure why I didn't get the "real time" update, but Anne finished in 4:30:44. AWESOME!!

Adrienne finished in 5:39:25. Again, AWESOME! Especially since I know she's had hardly any time to train properly this season. This, too is her "practice run" for NY in 2 weeks.

Jill's finish time isn't posted yet, so she must still be out there running her heart out.

*FINAL UPDATE*

Jill finished in 6:13:41. YAY JILLY-BEAN!!!

I'm so proud of these girls! :)

Progress

After my trip, my back was pretty bad but now (I almost hate to say it because I may jinx it) my back is feeling a lot better. I'm back in the pool doing my walking (despite how INCREDIBLY boring it is), I'm back on the nerve drug (I'd stopped taking it for about 10 days because of the side effects) & I've gone back to the chiro. I can't afford to see her 3 x's a week any more, so for now it'll just be a once a week maintanence thing. Hopefully I won't have another relapse & I'll continue to get better & better. *crosses fingers*

Several of my friends with the TNT gang are headed to Chicago next week for the marathon & I'm totally bummed that I can't be there with them. 2 weeks after that, a few are headed to NYC for the marathon there, as well. Again... bummed. I can't even go to cheer them on. This blows.

I need to make sure I don't do anything else to mess things up even more than they already are. I want to be able to start training again by the beginning of the year. Next year's marathon goal is the Nike Women's Marathon in San Franciso next October. I want that Tiffany necklace, dammit!!! But more than anything else, I just want to feel good about myself again.

Bad Dreams

I keep having dreams that I'm in a marathon & I'm running like the wind, with no pains of any kind & no shortness of breath.

Then I wake up.

That's just cruel.
